Dr. Anthony R. Spina, OD, FAAO
Dr. Anthony R. Spina is an optometric physician who has a passion for guiding his patients towards visual success. Dr. Spina graduated with honors from both Villanova University and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. During his training, Dr. Spina worked with leading eye specialists at the world-renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. After completing specialized internships in advanced contact lenses and low vision, Dr. Spina became a Captain in the United States Air Force. He proudly served as an Aerospace Optometrist for the 42nd Medical Group at Maxwell Air Force Base. During his Air Force career, Dr. Spina furthered his training by completing Refractive Surgery, Operational Eye Care, and Aerospace Optometry programs. Dr. Spina also headed the Corneal Refractive Surgery and Disease Management programs and performed flight physicals for pilots.
Awards
Because of his excellence in patient care and his contributions to optometry, Dr. Spina was distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2015, an honor given to only 10% of optometrists. In 2016, the Consumer Research Council named Dr. Spina a Top 100 Optometrist in the U.S., as well as one of America's Top Optometrists.

Dr. Spina actively engages and participates in both the local and national optometric communities. He is a member of the Alabama Optometric Association, The American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society, the Institute for Control of Myopia in Children, and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
